Try to be very specific on giving all rights to all files and directories. If your production web folder has multiple users, then you can set permissions and user groups accordingly. I have a web directory / a folder in that directory called store. I am trying to view a model in 3ds Max format using Autodesk Platform Services https://chickenroadapp.in/ (APS). The -R stands for recursive and greatly simplifies the process as you only need to do it on the parent folder. I was using chmod by itself on each folder and its children instead of using chmod -R.

APS Viewer Unrecoverable exit code from extractor: -777

For me it was an images that had an issue so I went to my images folder and did this. But I would suggest not to give 777 permission to all folder and it’s all contents. If by all permissions you mean 777 A quick way to test if everything runs well is to use the 3ds Max share view feature. A quick workaround is to rename the Max scene file and the object names to only use Latin characters. The error may occur if you have Unicode-named objects in the scene.

You can give permission to folder and all its contents using option -R i.e Recursive permissions.

Yes, very right that the -R option in chmod command makes the files/sub-directories under the given directory will get 777 permission. I want to give the folder store and all files and folders within the store folder all permissions. You should give specific permission to each sub-folder in folders. Within store are several files and folders. It would be nice to also provide a sample .max file to reproduce the error if possible. This is despite the fact that I have modified the permissions of the file ‘sys_run’ multiple times

Do not give full permission. Each number has meaning in permission. The -R (or –recursive) options make it recursive. Find centralized, trusted content and collaborate around the technologies you use most.

Running the file myself via terminal works fine I was able to build dpkg using following command I also tried to build with different Debian docker images but nothing helped. I’m trying to build .deb package from the bitbucket pipeline but end up with this error msg. See similar questions with these tags. Find the answer to your question by asking.

This question does not appear to be about a specific programming problem, a software algorithm, or software tools primarily used by programmers. Tried to change the folder’s permission with 755 but it didn’t help either. But generally, it’s not a good practice to give 777 to all files and dirs as it can lead to data insecurity.
